Hannah cried until she couldn’t eat.
Naomi came home and stated grief had emptied her.
Martha looked Jesus in the face and told him she wished He had come sooner.
Mary Magdalene stood outside the tomb weeping because she thought Jesus was gone.
These weren’t women without faith.
They were women whose faith had to live inside circumstances they didn’t understand.
I think that is something we forget sometimes.
We think strong faith should look like never questioning. Never crying. Never getting tired. Never admitting that something hurt us so deeply.
But, that’s not the bible.
A hard season can exhaust you.
It can shake things you thought were settled.
It can make you wonder where God is.
It can even make you feel like a stranger to yourself.
None of that changes who you are in Christ.
Your circumstances may have changed.
Your relationships may have changed
Your plans may have changed.
You may have changed.
But your identity hasn’t changed.
A hard season can change a lot of things about your life.
It doesn’t get to change whose you are.
